RECONNECTING YOUR
               ROOTS

مرحبًا

Meet Rania

"As a Moroccan-Ecuadorian, growing up biracial had always felt confusing. I always felt too African to be Hispanic and too Hispanic to be African. Additionally, my cultural products had never been accessible to me living in the US. I always felt a significant disconnect between my cultures, which is why I am passionate and so grateful to be CEO at Rekindle, where we help those struggling with cultural disconnect. I aspire to help those similar to my situation, whether they need a boost of inspiration to reconnect to their culture, or all the help they can get. Culture is a beautiful aspect that builds your identity, and Rekindle is here to help you embrace it!"

"At the age of two my family and I immigrated to America. Because of their financial status, my parents sent me back to Albania in order to have more availability for jobs. My first language was Albanian and I had fully assimilated the lifestyle and culture. However, once I moved back to America at the age of five I completely lost all connections I had to my roots. Overtime I found the importance of knowing more about my culture and where my ancestors come from. Rekindle is the product that I would’ve wanted to help aid me to reconnect my roots to find my truths."

"I aspire to be a renowned individual across the business space. I want to make a name for myself and have my identity be known. A huge part of my identity is my heritage and it’s important people know that. For a long time I was never really in touch with my heritage. I knew I was Bengali, but that was it. I never really immersed myself in my own culture and indulge in traditional amenities. Until just recently I started exploring my own culture and started understanding the significance of resonating with it. That’s why I’m glad to work at Rekindle, where we strive to help others reconnect with their cultures."

"When my parents first came to this country from Bangladesh around the age of 18 it was the "American Dream" that they sought out for their kids. And even after I was born my parents didn't go even go back to their country for at least 30 years. But still they were deeply connected with their background and were fully able to teach me about my roots and my family background. I would say without my culture, I wouldn't be the person I am today. Being fully Bengali didn't stop my parents from teaching me to speak/write/understand 5 different languages (Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Arabic and English). With Rekindle my mission is to reattach people to their cultural roots and help them learn more about other cultures just like how I did."

“I grew up in Ocala, Florida, a predominantly white, rural town. I was one of three Asians in my entire community .I didn’t really have any connection with my culture. At the age of 15, I moved to New York. Moving to New York made learn more about my culture. Rekindle is the product I would have chosen to assist me in reconnecting my roots to my truths.”

"Being half Ecuadorian and half Peruvian, growing up I was constantly surrounded by my culture, whether it was through the food I ate, the music I listened to, or the languages I spoke. I grew up with a great amount of appreciation and acknowledgement for the places I came from and I hope Rekindle helps others gain the same feelings about their culture that I did."

Meet Katty

School in Santo Domingo. Summers in China. Visits to Hong Kong. I bounced between these 3 countries so I could visit family and immerse myself with my cultures. However, as my family settled in the US, we slowly began disconnecting from our heritage. The days when the dinner table was filled with food from my different cultures disappeared. Sancocho became Papa John's. Sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves became pancakes. Now, if someone asks me "where are you from? What is your culture?" I hesitate

Meet Fabiola

"Born and raised in Queens, by my Ecuadorian father and mother, as a child of immigrant parents seeking prospering opportunities for future generations. My parents tried their best to show my siblings and I the beauty of Ecuadorian culture. Ever since I can remember my family has been brought together because of music. So, from a very early age my older sister and I began to sing in family events, parties, church etc. I discovered that music can unite me to my roots even when I haven’t had the opportunity to physically reconnect back to my homeland.  Although I had never visited my home country Ecuador, keeping my ancestors' traditions alive allowed me to spread awareness of my culture which plays a crucial part of my identity. Acknowledging that most people assimilate and adapt to the American lifestyle I hope with this new service my team and I can help others from different parts of the world find a sense of self identity, and share their stories."

Meet Gianna

"Being surrounded by a strong Colombian family helped me embrace and love all that my culture had to offer. From the meals to the music, my hispanic heritage always drew me in. Growing up this way shaped me into who I am today and has helped me develop great respect and love for where I came from. I am proud of who I am, and it would be amazing to help people from all over feel the same!"
